Under the overall guidance of the Head of Office (HoO) in Bratislava and the direct supervision of the National Legal Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for preparation of legal documents, legal counselling and providing assistance in mission’s legal activities.
Core functions / Responsibilites:
Assist in elaboration legal analyses and statements to relevant laws and other legal documents;
Assist in reviewing draft contracts with donors, partners, service providers and ensure compliance with applicable Framework Agreements and IOM internal legal requirements;
Prepare records on individual cases, performs case management and maintain vendors/partners folders;
Monitor new legislation with regards to mission’s legal activities;
Assist in providing legal advice on implications of non-standard provisions and/or legal compliance issues on contracts that entail provisions that are not in line with policies, instructions, regulations and rules;
Perform general office maintenance and assist in procurement of services and goods in line with internal rules and donor reporting requirements including communication with suppliers, market research and supplier contracts preparation;
Assist in preparation of reports, briefings, background information, narratives and statistical analysis as necessary;
Organize meetings, assist in preparation of workshops and training sessions;
Act as interpreter/translator (Slovak-English, English-Slovak and other foreign languages if appropriate);
Perform such other duties as may be assigned by Head of Office and the National Legal Officer.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
University degree in Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution or
Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with at least five years of relevant professional experience,
Experience:
Experience in preparing and reviewing legal documents;
Experience in legal compliance is an advantage
Languages:
Fluency in English and Slovak (oral and written).
Knowledge of another foreign language (Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish, Arabic, etc.) is an advantage.
Skills
Excellent command of MS Office.
Ability and willingness to drive (driving licence B) and travel within Slovakia;
Strong planning skills and strong in keeping deadlines;
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with a team
